Ancient Granite Beads "Flintstone" Series | Beads
These beads are rare, especially in this shape and cut. They come from Djenne, in Mali and are from excavations done a long time ago. Gneiss, a kind of Granite, the beads were made at first 200BC till about 300AD. I look carefully at the holes. When they are smaller at one end than the other, I know they are indeed originals....I call this one "Flintstones" because the beads remind me of their wheels! I think this is a wonderful necklace for someone, particularly male I think, who loves old beads and this level of organic and historical. Personally I simply love these beads...I deliberately strung them with no silver or anything because they speak for themselves..
