Antique Dogon Amber Glass Bead Necklace Kate Drew-Wilkinson
$45.00
I first began making jewelry in this way many years ago. I found photos and knew I had more beads in my attic, so here we are again. You need to imagine this necklace on a bare neck rather than a black top! Winter...even my model likes to stay warm!:-)
These annular beads are reputed to have been made in Holland or Germany depending on which source you read from. They were traded to the Dogon tribe in West Africa. I believe they are being made again but these are original. The copper comes from the Giriama Tribe in Kenya and I made it with Sterling silver wire, clasp and beads. The pendant pictured with the necklace is NOT part of the deal.. it is actually one of the matching earrings without its French hook. I wanted to show you that having two silver hooks means you can hang other things from the necklace or simply wear it as a choker. The necklace is 16 1/2 inches. It's great on!
