Rare Stone Bead Tabular Carnelian Agate Necklace on Two Knot Cord no.1
This Tabular Carnelian Agate Trade bead was hand cut and polished in Idar-Oberstein, Germany in the 1800s and then traded into Africa, probably Mali. I hung it on a brown cotton cord with two sliding knots, between two small silver bead caps so that it is immediately wearable, but of course a designer can cut it loose and use it for another purpose.I set it this way because it is a fine bead for a man or boy also! Notice the beautiful bevel on the edge of the bead and the "blush" in the center also...in the hand this is an extraordinarily fine hand cut historic round tabular bead.
The bead is 31 mm across and7 mm deep.
By the way, if you want to learn how to make this knot, find me on You Tube. I have 30 films there.. The two knot one is here
