Snake Bead Glass Rainbow Earrings
Time for me to introduce you to my new Rainbow Snake Bead Collection. I have been holding on to a collection of these magical and historic glass beads for many years and recently went into my attic to bring them out again. Preparing to use them in jewelry takes a lot of work. They usually come on raffia, dirty, chipped and with a lot of dried sweat because they were danced in and worn in tribal situations in Africa.
Here’s a reference link ..
I have to sort them carefully in a bright light, remove the chipped ones and then soak the good ones in Clorox to clean them. Then they are good as new. Although they were manufactured so many years ago in Czechoslovakia, there still seem to be slight differences in the thickness of the beads. Also, there is a very very subtle difference to the size of each end of each bead so they have to be put together in the right direction. Please take care of your earrings and wear them with pride. I will write an article one of these days about my relationship with these beads and the African Traders I began buying them from over 40 years ago!
